## About this course

Most people learn Autodesk Maya by watching tutorials that go nowhere. This course builds one thing start to finish: a Cyber Tower. Jan Wilk walks you through the Maya interface, low-poly and high-poly polygon modeling, and a final lighting setup that turns your model into a portfolio-ready render. Four hours, six lessons, no prior experience needed.

## What you'll learn

- Navigate and customize the Autodesk Maya interface for efficient workflow

- Elevate your 3D models using advanced polygon editing and subdivision surface workflows

- Learn how to design strategically using manual low-poly modeling to create fluid shapes.

- Low-poly polygon modeling techniques

- High-poly polygon modeling techniques

## Methodology

Students will learn a range of low-poly polygon modeling techniques to create clean, efficient, and visually appealing geometries with smooth, flowing forms. Emphasis will be placed on developing a strong understanding of form, proportion, and topology while working within a low-poly framework.

We will then move on to more advanced modeling operations, building upon previously created geometry to add complexity, detail, and character to each project. Students will apply these skills in an individual final assignment, allowing them to develop and present their own unique work.

## FAQ

### Is Autodesk Maya a good choice for architects and designers learning 3D modeling?
Yes. Autodesk Maya's polygon modeling and subdivision surface tools are well suited for designers who want to work with complex organic geometry and smooth forms that go beyond what NURBS-based tools like Rhino can produce efficiently. It is widely used in film, animation, and game production, making it a strong addition to any design portfolio. PAACADEMY's Maya for Beginners 101 is built specifically for designers entering the software for the first time.

### What does Maya for Beginners 101: Cyber Tower cover at PAACADEMY?
The course covers the Autodesk Maya interface and navigation, software environment setup, core polygon modeling principles, low-poly and high-poly modeling techniques, and a complete Cyber Tower design project. The final section covers panelization and generating conceptual render images using a lighting setup inside Maya. Six lessons across 4 hours, taught by Jan Wilk.

### Do I need prior 3D modeling experience to take this course?
No. The course starts from the Maya interface and basic geometry creation before moving into polygon modeling. Students who already use Rhino, Blender, or SketchUp will find the transition straightforward, but the curriculum is structured so that no prior experience is required to follow it from the beginning.

### What will I be able to make after completing this Maya beginner course?
By the end of the course you will have a complete Cyber Tower 3D model built using low-poly and high-poly polygon modeling techniques, along with a set of conceptual render images produced inside Maya. The final assignment is individual, giving you a portfolio piece developed through your own design decisions within the skills covered in the course.
