## About this course

META-Fluid Studio 3.0 is a collaborative studio course on PAACADEMY that uses Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine to design fluid cyber-urban environments within a collectively built virtual city. Thirty designers working in teams of three develop either meta-architectural typologies — event spaces, NFT exhibitions, concert stages, sports stadiums — or meta-urban elements such as master plans, vertical buildings, water and green ratios, and multi-layer circulation systems. The combined output is a free-standing fluid virtual urban field demonstrating multi-author urban design as a model for future virtual cities.

## What you'll learn

- Fluid Design Principles: Explore the concepts and methodologies behind Fluid Design to create dynamic and innovative cyber-urban environments.

- 3D Modeling in Maya: Gain hands-on experience with Autodesk Maya, focusing on its tools and capabilities for designing fluid architectural forms.

- Collaboration in Teams: Work collaboratively in groups to develop a cohesive virtual city, enhancing skills in teamwork and project management.

- Immersive Experiences with Unreal Engine: Learn how to integrate your designs into Unreal Engine for immersive visualization and interaction.

- Multi-Author Urban Design: Understand the principles of multi-author collaboration in urban design, fostering a shared vision for future virtual cities.

## Requirements

This is an applied workshop. We will learn through involvement, so expect homework! You will work in groups of 3 to distribute the tasks and produce a complete project. Each group will have 10 minutes to present their work on jury day.

## FAQ

### What software is used in the META-Fluid Studio 3.0?
The studio uses Autodesk Maya as the primary 3D modeling environment for designing fluid architectural and urban forms, and Unreal Engine for real-time visualization and immersive experience of the virtual city. No additional software is required.

### What does META-Fluid Studio 3.0 cover?
The studio covers fluid design principles for cyber-urban environments, 3D modeling of architectural typologies in Maya, collaborative multi-author urban design, and real-time visualization in Unreal Engine. Teams develop either meta-architectural elements such as event spaces, concert stages, and fashion walkways, or meta-urban components such as master planning, vertical buildings, and circulation systems. The studio concludes with a jury presentation where each group presents their work.

### Is META-Fluid Studio 3.0 suitable for beginners in Maya?
The studio is described as applied and hands-on, with homework expected between sessions. Participants work in groups of three, which allows different skill levels to contribute to different aspects of the project. Some prior exposure to 3D modeling is beneficial, as the studio focuses on fluid design methodology and collaborative urban design rather than introducing Maya fundamentals from scratch.

### What will I produce by the end of this metaverse architecture studio?
Each team of three produces a complete architectural or urban design contribution to a collectively designed virtual city, presented in a jury session. Combined across all teams, the final output is a free-standing fluid virtual urban field built in Maya and visualized in Unreal Engine, demonstrating multi-author design at urban scale.
