About this workshop

This workshop explores a new way of creating 3D environments for the web. In the past, building 3D scenes often required long modeling workflows and specialized software.

Today, AI tools make it possible to start with a prompt, generate assets, write code, and build scenes much faster.

In this workshop, design, modeling, development, and publishing are treated as one continuous process. Participants will generate assets, build a 3D scene, and publish a working project during the same session.

The workshop takes place directly in the browser using Three.js, together with lightweight web tools such as SvelteKit and Vite. AI-assisted coding tools will support the process. The goal is not only to learn the tools, but to understand how they work together in a practical workflow for creating and publishing interactive 3D environments.

What you will learn

  • 01

Using prompts to generate visual and spatial assets.

  • 02

Using AI tools to support creative and 3D workflows.

  • 03

Building a basic Three.js scene with camera, lighting, and geometry.

  • 04

Bringing generated assets into a real-time interactive environment.

  • 05

Using AI coding tools to write, edit, and improve code.

  • 06

Publishing an interactive 3D scene online.

Methodology

The workshop focuses on building interactive 3D environments for the web with AI-assisted workflows.

Participants will work on:

  • Generating visual and spatial assets with AI tools.
  • Building simple but effective 3D scenes.
  • Creating interactive environments in the browser.
  • Preparing and publishing a complete project online.

The environments may include:

  • Abstract or atmospheric landscapes.
  • Conceptual architectural spaces.
  • Small interactive scenes.
  • Narrative or world-building experiments.

The main focus is the full pipeline, from idea to published result, rather than refining one single model or asset.

The workflow includes:

  • Asset generation, using AI tools to create textures, forms, and visual references.
  • Scene construction, building a 3D environment with Three.js.
  • Code development, writing, and improving code with AI coding tools such as Cursor, Windsurf, or similar tools.
  • Application setup, organizing the project with SvelteKit and Vite.
  • Publishing and deploying the final project online.

The workshop is focused on clarity, speed, and execution. By the end of the workshop, each participant will have a working published project.

Knowledge Requirements

What you should already know or have ready before you start, experience, tools, and any baseline skills the instructors expect. Scan the list below so nothing catches you off guard.

  • Any large language model interface for prompting.
  • Any diffusion-based image or asset generation tool.

Stepan is an architect, computational designer, and educator who merges programming with design to create both digital and physical spaces. As co-founder of SA lab, Stepan evolved from visual coding to full-stack development, building web apps, games, and virtual experiences. Over nine years at SA lab.

Stepan led multiple award-winning projects and developed a methodology that combines computational design with digital fabrication to reduce design time and errors. In 2021, he co-founded Kodiia, now an AI-first online sketchbook to help creative professionals integrate AI into their workflows. Stepan teaches coding, computational design, and robotics internationally to creative professionals.
