Ameba is a Grasshopper plugin for topology optimization, using bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) methods to find the most structurally efficient material distribution for a given load case and boundary condition. For architects, topology optimization allows structural form to emerge from performance requirements rather than from conventional structural typologies: given a defined design space and a set of forces, Ameba removes material where it is not needed and adds it where stress is highest.
