PAACADEMY provides online courses on the Ameba Grasshopper plugin, teaching architects how to use topology optimization to generate organic, highly efficient structural forms driven by performance requirements.

Ameba is a Grasshopper plugin for topology optimization, using bi-directional evolutionary structural optimization (BESO) methods to find the most structurally efficient material distribution for a given load case and boundary condition. For architects, topology optimization allows structural form to emerge from performance requirements rather than from conventional structural typologies: given a defined design space and a set of forces, Ameba removes material where it is not needed and adds it where stress is highest.

At PAACADEMY, Ameba is taught in specialized contexts where extreme material efficiency is required, such as Mars Architecture by Studio Valentina Sumini. In these extreme design scenarios, Ameba helps architects answer critical questions:
