This Prize & Winner Policy (the “Policy”) governs the awarding, verification, fulfillment, acceptance, and administration of prizes offered in connection with CartesianForms: Architecture Reimagined (the “Competition”).
The Competition is organized and operated by Parametric Architecture, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company (“Parametric Architecture,” “PA,” “Organizer,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
This Policy forms part of and is incorporated into the official Competition Terms & Conditions. By registering for or participating in the Competition, each participant agrees to this Policy, the Competition Terms & Conditions, and all other policies expressly incorporated into them.
In the event of a conflict between this Policy and the Competition Terms & Conditions, the Competition Terms & Conditions shall control unless expressly stated otherwise.
1. Prize Pool
CartesianForms: Architecture Reimagined is expected to offer an aggregate prize pool with an announced value of up to USD $120,000.
The $120,000 prize pool represents the aggregate stated value of all prizes, awards, credits, products, services, benefits, and other forms of consideration included in the Competition prize structure. It does not mean that USD $120,000 will be distributed in cash.
The prize pool may include a combination of cash awards, technology credits, artificial intelligence or computing credits, software or platform credits, products, services, educational benefits, subscriptions, promotional opportunities, partner-provided benefits, and other awards identified in the official Competition materials.
The final allocation of prizes between Competition categories and winners will be published through the official Competition website or other official Competition materials.
Where a non-cash prize is described using a monetary value, that amount represents the value assigned to the prize by the Organizer or applicable prize provider for purposes of the Competition. It does not create a right to receive the stated amount in cash.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, non-cash prizes cannot be exchanged, redeemed, or substituted for cash at the request of a winner.
2. Competition Categories and Awards
The Competition may award prizes separately within the Student and Professional categories and may distinguish between individual and team entries where applicable.
Awards may include first, second, and third prizes, honorable mentions, special awards, jury selections, partner awards, technology awards, public-choice awards, or other distinctions announced by the Organizer.
The number, type, value, and allocation of awards may differ between categories.
The Organizer may also recognize projects through editorial features, exhibitions, certificates, interviews, social media coverage, videos, newsletters, events, or other forms of non-monetary recognition.
Unless an official Competition announcement expressly assigns a monetary value to such recognition, publication, publicity, certificates, exhibitions, editorial coverage, or similar opportunities do not constitute cash prizes and have no guaranteed monetary value.
3. Official Prize Structure
The official Competition website will publish the applicable prize structure before final awards are determined.
The prize structure may identify:
- cash awards;
- technology or AI credits;
- software or service credits;
- products or services;
- educational benefits;
- first, second, and third prizes;
- honorable mentions;
- category-specific awards;
- partner-sponsored awards; and
- other Competition benefits.
The Organizer may provide additional clarification concerning the composition or conditions of a prize at any time before fulfillment.
Promotional materials may refer to the aggregate Competition prize pool for marketing and communication purposes. In all cases, the detailed prize structure published by the Organizer shall control over abbreviated advertising or promotional descriptions.
4. No Guarantee of a Particular Prize
Registration or submission does not guarantee that a participant will receive any prize, award, honorable mention, publication, certificate, reimbursement, or other benefit.
A participant acquires no legal entitlement to a Competition prize merely by being shortlisted, publicly discussed, featured, nominated, or provisionally identified as a potential winner.
A prize becomes final only after the Organizer has completed the applicable verification process and confirmed the award.
5. Selection of Winners
Winners will be selected in accordance with the Competition’s published judging criteria and procedures.
Architectural and design evaluation inherently involves professional and subjective judgment. Different jurors may reasonably reach different conclusions concerning the same project.
Except where applicable law requires otherwise, jury and Organizer decisions concerning Competition awards are final.
Participants are not entitled to receive individual scoring sheets, jury deliberation records, internal correspondence, comparative rankings, explanations of individual votes, or other confidential materials relating to the judging process.
The Organizer may publish selected jury comments or feedback at its discretion.
6. Potential Winner Status
Any initial notification, website announcement, email, social media post, jury selection, or other communication identifying a participant as a potential winner remains subject to verification.
No participant shall be considered a confirmed winner until the Organizer has determined that the participant:
- satisfies the Competition eligibility requirements;
- complied with the Competition Terms and applicable policies;
- has satisfactorily demonstrated authorship where requested;
- has provided required identification or documentation;
- is legally permitted to receive the applicable prize; and
- has completed any required winner documentation.
The Organizer may withhold public confirmation or prize fulfillment while verification is pending.
7. Winner Verification
The Organizer may require a potential winner to provide information reasonably necessary to verify eligibility and Competition compliance.
Depending on the circumstances, verification may include identity documentation, proof of age, student status, country of residence, team composition, authorship information, tax information, payment information, sanctions screening information, AI workflow documentation, source files, work-in-progress materials, software files, timestamps, or other reasonable evidence.
Potential winners may also be required to sign declarations of eligibility, publicity releases, intellectual property confirmations, tax forms, prize acknowledgments, or other documentation reasonably required for lawful prize administration.
The Organizer may establish a reasonable deadline for providing requested documentation.
Failure to provide required information within the stated period may result in forfeiture of the prize.
8. Authorship and Originality Verification
Because the Competition involves artificial intelligence, computational design, and digital creative workflows, the Organizer may conduct additional authorship and originality verification for potential winners.
A potential winner may be asked to demonstrate the development of the project through selected sketches, source files, screenshots, AI-generation histories, prompts, models, intermediate iterations, metadata, timestamps, written explanations, or other reasonable process evidence.
The purpose of verification is to protect participants, jurors, partners, sponsors, and the integrity of the Competition.
A participant who intentionally provides fabricated, altered, or misleading verification evidence may be immediately disqualified.
9. Cash Prizes
Cash prizes will be paid using a payment method selected or approved by the Organizer.
The Organizer may request banking information, payment-service information, identification, tax documentation, or other information reasonably necessary to complete payment.
Cash awards may be stated and administered in United States dollars. Where payment is made through a financial institution or payment provider involving currency conversion, the actual amount received in another currency may vary because of exchange rates, intermediary bank charges, recipient bank fees, transfer costs, or other financial-service charges outside the Organizer’s control.
Unless expressly stated otherwise, the Organizer is not responsible for exchange-rate differences or fees charged by a winner’s bank, intermediary financial institution, payment provider, or other third party.
The Organizer may use a reasonable alternative payment method if the preferred method is unavailable, restricted, commercially impractical, or legally prohibited.
10. Team Prizes
A team entry constitutes one Competition entry.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in the official prize structure, a prize awarded to a team is awarded to the team collectively, not separately to every individual team member.
For example, a USD $10,000 cash prize awarded to a five-person team represents a total team prize of USD $10,000 and not USD $10,000 per team member.
The Organizer may make a single cash payment to the registered team leader or another representative unanimously designated by the team.
Following payment by the Organizer, responsibility for allocating the prize among team members rests entirely with the team.
Parametric Architecture, LLC shall not be responsible for internal disputes concerning allocation, ownership, tax responsibility, authorship percentages, or distribution of a team prize.
Disagreement among team members does not require the Organizer to delay payment indefinitely or divide a prize according to competing claims.
11. Technology, AI, Software and Service Credits
Some Competition prizes may consist of credits provided by technology companies, artificial intelligence providers, software companies, cloud-computing providers, design platforms, FORMAS, OpenAI, or other Competition partners.
Such credits are not cash.
Credits may be subject to separate provider requirements concerning account creation, identity, age, geographic availability, eligible services, usage limits, expiration, prohibited uses, billing arrangements, or other provider terms.
A winner is responsible for satisfying those requirements.
The stated monetary value of credits does not guarantee that every winner will personally obtain an equivalent amount of economic benefit from them.
Unused credits generally have no cash value and may expire according to the applicable provider’s terms.
Unless expressly agreed otherwise, Parametric Architecture, LLC does not control and is not responsible for the independent operation of a third-party credit program after the prize has been validly provided or made available to the winner.
12. OpenAI-Provided or Related Benefits
Where the official Competition prize structure identifies OpenAI credits, services, benefits, or other OpenAI-supported prizes, those benefits may be subject to OpenAI’s applicable eligibility requirements, account requirements, usage policies, geographic availability, technical conditions, expiration periods, and other applicable terms.
The exact nature and availability of any OpenAI-related prize shall be determined by the official Competition prize structure and applicable arrangements with the prize provider.
Unless expressly stated otherwise in official Competition materials, an OpenAI-related prize does not constitute a promise by OpenAI to provide employment, investment, business development, technical support, commercial partnership, publicity, or any other benefit beyond the specifically identified prize.
A reference to OpenAI as a sponsor, prize provider, technology partner, or other collaborator shall not be interpreted as an endorsement by OpenAI of every Competition submission, participant, finalist, winner, architectural proposal, or statement made by the Organizer.
13. Third-Party Prize Providers
Certain prizes may be supplied, funded, administered, or fulfilled wholly or partially by Competition partners or other third parties.
Where a third party is responsible for fulfillment, the winner may be required to communicate directly with that provider and accept its applicable terms.
The Organizer will use reasonable efforts to coordinate legitimate prize fulfillment but does not guarantee the continuing operation, solvency, availability, or policies of an independent third-party provider.
If a third-party prize becomes unavailable for reasons beyond the Organizer’s reasonable control, the Organizer may, where reasonably practicable, substitute another prize or benefit of comparable or reasonably similar value.
Unless expressly required by applicable law or expressly promised by the Organizer, the Organizer is not obligated to pay the cash equivalent of an unavailable third-party product, service, subscription, or credit.
14. Prize Substitution
The Organizer may substitute a non-cash prize where the originally announced prize becomes unavailable, unlawful, impracticable, materially changed by its provider, discontinued, or otherwise impossible to deliver for reasons outside the Organizer’s reasonable control.
Where reasonably practicable, the Organizer will attempt to provide a substitute of reasonably comparable value or purpose.
A winner may not demand a cash substitution for a non-cash prize unless the Organizer expressly agrees to such substitution.
15. Taxes and Financial Obligations
All winners are solely responsible for determining and satisfying taxes, reporting requirements, duties, levies, customs charges, income taxes, withholding taxes, VAT, or other financial obligations associated with receipt or use of a Competition prize.
The Organizer may request tax documentation and may report or withhold prize amounts where required by applicable law.
Where withholding is legally required, the amount ultimately received by the winner may be less than the gross announced prize amount.
The Organizer does not provide tax advice.
Participants should seek independent professional advice where appropriate.
16. International Payments and Legal Restrictions
Because the Competition is international, prize fulfillment may be affected by banking regulations, sanctions, export controls, anti-money-laundering requirements, payment-provider restrictions, local laws, or other regulatory requirements.
Parametric Architecture, LLC is a United States company and must comply with applicable United States laws and restrictions.
The Organizer may conduct reasonable identity, sanctions, or compliance checks before fulfilling a prize.
If payment or prize fulfillment to a winner is prohibited by applicable law, governmental restrictions, sanctions, or binding financial-institution requirements, the Organizer may suspend, withhold, modify, or cancel fulfillment as reasonably necessary to comply with law.
No participant may require the Organizer to violate applicable law in order to provide a prize.
17. Prize Acceptance Deadline
A potential winner must respond to official winner communications and provide required information within the deadline specified by the Organizer.
Where no specific deadline is provided, the Organizer will allow a reasonable period considering the nature of the documentation and prize.
If a potential winner fails to respond after reasonable attempts to contact them, fails to provide required documentation, expressly declines a prize, or cannot lawfully receive it, the Organizer may treat the prize as forfeited.
The Organizer may then award the prize to another eligible participant, redistribute the prize, or leave it unawarded, depending on the circumstances and applicable Competition structure.
18. Forfeiture and Revocation
A potential or confirmed winner may forfeit or lose an award if the Organizer reasonably determines that the participant was ineligible, materially breached the Competition Terms, committed plagiarism, infringed third-party rights, materially misrepresented authorship, falsified verification information, manipulated the Competition, failed required compliance checks, or engaged in other conduct justifying disqualification.
Revocation may occur after public announcement or initial prize fulfillment if a material violation is subsequently discovered.
Where legally permissible, a participant whose award is revoked may be required to return cash, unused credits, products, certificates, titles, or other benefits previously received.
The Organizer may remove the participant from winner lists, publications, exhibitions, websites, social media posts, or other Competition records where reasonably appropriate.
19. Honorable Mentions and Non-Cash Recognition
The Competition may grant honorable mentions or other forms of recognition.
Unless the official prize structure expressly provides otherwise, an honorable mention does not automatically carry a cash prize or a portion of the advertised $120,000 prize pool.
Honorable mentions may receive certificates, publication, editorial coverage, exhibition opportunities, social media exposure, or other forms of recognition determined by the Organizer.
The Organizer may determine the number of honorable mentions based on the quality and number of eligible submissions.
20. Publication and Promotion of Winners
Winners and finalists acknowledge that public recognition is an integral part of the Competition.
The Organizer may announce and promote winners through Parametric Architecture, PAACADEMY, CartesianForms, Competition partners, media partners, websites, newsletters, social media, videos, podcasts, events, exhibitions, press releases, publications, and other communication channels.
Subject to applicable law and the Competition Terms, the Organizer may use the winner’s name, project title, submitted project materials, country, professional or educational affiliation, approved likeness, biography, interview materials, and Competition-related statements for these purposes without additional compensation.
The Organizer may continue displaying and referring to historical Competition winners after the Competition has concluded.
21. No Additional Compensation
Except for a prize expressly awarded under the official Competition prize structure, participants, finalists, and winners are not entitled to additional compensation for participating in the Competition, appearing in Competition communications, granting the rights required under the Competition Terms, or having their submitted materials published or promoted pursuant to those Terms.
Editorial coverage, publication, interviews, exhibitions, social media exposure, certificates, or other promotional opportunities do not create an obligation for the Organizer to provide additional payment.
22. No Guarantee of Future Opportunity
Winning, becoming a finalist, receiving an honorable mention, or otherwise being recognized in the Competition does not create a contractual right or expectation of employment, investment, architectural commission, construction, product development, representation, publication beyond that chosen by the Organizer, commercial licensing, sponsorship, partnership, admission to another program, or future collaboration.
Any subsequent commercial or professional arrangement involving a participant would require a separate agreement where appropriate.
23. Changes to the Prize Structure
The Organizer intends to deliver the prize structure substantially as officially announced.
However, the Organizer may make reasonable changes where necessary because of legal requirements, third-party prize-provider changes, sanctions, technology availability, discontinuation of services, force majeure, administrative necessity, or circumstances outside the Organizer’s reasonable control.
Where a material prize must be changed, the Organizer will use reasonable efforts to provide an appropriate substitute or otherwise address the situation fairly, taking into account the nature of the affected prize.
Nothing in this section obligates the Organizer to personally fund or replace a third-party benefit where doing so would be unlawful or where the applicable Competition Terms provide otherwise.
24. Cancellation or Material Disruption of the Competition
If the Competition is suspended, postponed, materially modified, or cancelled because of circumstances described in the Competition Terms, the Organizer may modify the award process as reasonably necessary.
Depending on the stage of the Competition, the Organizer may postpone judging, extend deadlines, determine winners from eligible submissions already received, modify prize fulfillment, or take another reasonable approach consistent with applicable law and Competition integrity.
Competition registration and submission payments remain final and non-refundable to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, including where Competition dates, procedures, jury composition, partner participation, or other administrative elements are modified.
Nothing in this provision requires a participant to receive a refund except where a refund is strictly required by applicable non-waivable law.
25. No Refund of Competition Payments
ALL REGISTRATION FEES, SUBMISSION FEES, TEAM FEES, ADDITIONAL PARTICIPANT FEES, LATE FEES, AND ANY OTHER PAYMENTS MADE IN CONNECTION WITH CARTESIANFORMS: ARCHITECTURE REIMAGINED ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW.
No refund will be provided because a participant:
- changes their mind;
- withdraws from the Competition;
- does not complete or submit a project;
- misses a deadline;
- submits an incomplete or invalid entry;
- registers in error;
- makes more than one registration or payment;
- becomes unable to participate;
- experiences participant-side technical problems;
- disagrees with a jury decision;
- is not shortlisted or selected as a winner;
- is disqualified;
- fails eligibility or verification requirements;
- cannot use a prize or third-party credit;
- experiences a change in personal, academic, professional, financial, or travel circumstances; or
- does not use the benefits associated with registration.
A participant is responsible for reviewing all Competition information before making payment.
Where a payment appears to have been made more than once, the participant must contact the Organizer; however, a duplicate registration or duplicate payment does not automatically create a contractual right to a refund.
The only exception to this no-refund policy is where Parametric Architecture, LLC is legally required to issue a refund under mandatory, non-waivable applicable law.
26. Limitation of Responsibility for Prize Fulfillment
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Organizer is not responsible for a winner’s inability to receive or use a prize because of incorrect information supplied by the winner, failure to maintain an eligible account, geographic restrictions, sanctions, provider restrictions, expiration, failure to redeem a benefit within the applicable period, incompatible technology, loss of credentials, or violation of a third-party provider’s terms.
Once a prize has been validly transferred, paid, credited, shipped, activated, or otherwise made available in accordance with the applicable prize terms, the Organizer’s obligation concerning that prize shall be considered fulfilled, except to the extent otherwise required by law.
27. Relationship to Other Competition Documents
This Policy supplements the CartesianForms: Architecture Reimagined Competition Terms & Conditions and the Submission, Copyright & AI Policy.
The intellectual property provisions, participant representations, indemnification obligations, limitations of liability, governing-law provisions, dispute provisions, and other protections contained in those documents remain fully applicable to prizes and winners.
If this Policy conflicts with the Competition Terms & Conditions, the Competition Terms & Conditions shall control unless expressly stated otherwise.
28. Amendments
Parametric Architecture, LLC may reasonably update this Policy where necessary to reflect the final prize structure, changes made by prize providers, applicable legal requirements, Competition administration, or other legitimate operational requirements.
Material changes will be communicated through the official Competition website or another reasonable official channel.
The version displaying the latest revision date shall constitute the current version.
29. Contact
