To bridge the gap between the realms of digital and physical, 3D printing with clay has gained immense popularity over the last few years. The process adds another layer of intrigue to fabrication, where material and print paths must be finely tuned in order to achieve spectacular results. It is a compelling and exciting creation method, with techniques applicable from Object to Architectural scales. The 3D-Printing Ceramics workshop will cover most of these topics.
Digital and Physical Integration: Understand how to bridge the gap between digital designs and physical 3D-printed ceramics.
Photogrammetry and Context: Use Polycam for photogrammetry to create a context for your designs.
Geometry and Tool Paths: Develop base geometries in Rhino and manipulate tool paths in Grasshopper for precise fabrication control.
Advanced Software Techniques: Explore Houdini for added complexity and learn to manipulate Gcode for various printing technologies.
What you should already know or have ready before you start, experience, tools, and any baseline skills the instructors expect. Scan the list below so nothing catches you off guard.

Josef Stöger is an Artist and Designer with a master’s degree in Architecture from the Bartlett School of Architecture, London. He is inspired by the systems and processes that form some of the most beautiful structures in nature and how these can be used in our built environment to create designs that integrate seamlessly with the complexity of our global ecology. He has an incredibly varied background in VR Development, Film-making, Fabrication, and Digital design. With four years of experience working as a technical tutor for Bartlett students, his most recent collaboration is with Peugeot, who is 3D printing a ceramic sculpture to celebrate the launch of their new car. He now works as an Artist and Educator, creating high-value commission pieces and teaching the endlessly fascinating world of digital and physical design.
Very interesting course
Great workshop. Clear explanations and nice examples Josep!
