Chhavi Mehta, an architect and educator, is becoming a prominent voice in AI-assisted design and fluid architectural modeling. Her method offers a novel perspective on the design, visualization, and communication of architecture in the twenty-first century by fusing expressive digital forms, cinematic storytelling, and state-of-the-art software.
Chhavi, a graduate of SCI-Arc in Los Angeles, focuses on using programs like Autodesk Maya, Midjourney, Unreal Engine, and Runway ML to produce atmospheric, immersive architectural images. Her work focuses on narrative-driven visualization, experimental building, and sculpture design ideation.
She has developed a dynamic portfolio that includes her 3D modeling methods, renderings driven by AI, and animated scenes that evoke the sensation of dreamy cinema. These are whole architectural narratives, not just digital experiments.
A weekend workshop Symbiotic Design: AI-Driven Fluid Modeling in Maya, is being organized by PAACADEMY on 5-6 July, 2025. Architects and students will have hands-on experience combining AI and manual 3D modeling for architectural form exploration and animation through this AI and 3D design class.
Learning both basic and advanced modeling techniques, participants will begin by modeling fluid architectural typologies in Autodesk Maya. They will create visually appealing representations and modifications of their models using Midjourney AI for brainstorming. Using these AI-enhanced designs in Runway ML, where students will create cinematic architectural animations with mood, movement, and story, in the last stage.
This all-encompassing process, from concept to model to motion, is a prime example of how AI is revolutionizing architectural design processes, making them quicker, more creative, and more emotionally compelling. A personal short film displaying their design using this potent hybrid approach will be given to each participant as they leave the session.
Chhavi Mehta's ability to combine emotion and form-making is what makes her unique. Her work captures moods, transitions, and spatial narratives in addition to experimenting with parametric modeling and visual quality. Chhavi's designs consistently generate a sense of movement and mood, whether they are floating architectural shapes created by AI prompts or sculpture pavilions modeled after coral structures.
She views programs like Maya and Midjourney as co-creators as well as technological platforms. A Maya form may serve as the inspiration for a narrative animation in Runway, or a Midjourney render may propose a surface articulation that is then converted back into Maya. The core of her symbiotic approach to design is this cycle of creation, between computer intelligence and human intuition.
In recent projects, Chhavi has been exploring the boundaries of architectural animation using Runway ML. She doesn’t use these tools just for post-processing or walk-throughs. Instead, she crafts short speculative films where architecture becomes the protagonist, buildings that breathe, dissolve and move with the rhythm of music and light.
These animations are visual add-ons and are fundamental to her architectural expression. By animating fluid forms and atmospheric settings, she brings design ideas into a cinematic realm, making them more accessible and emotionally resonant. For emerging architects looking to move beyond static renders and floor plans, Chhavi offers a new model: one where architectural design is performed, not just presented.
Chhavi is a design instructor who is committed to democratizing access to cutting-edge tools. She demystifies sophisticated programs like Midjourney, Maya, and Runway through her workshops, masterclasses, and online tutorials, teaching students how to utilize them artistically.
Her instruction encourages participants to abandon strict procedures by emphasizing experimentation, storytelling, and design intuition. She aims to enable designers to conceive narratively, create sculpturally, and visualize emotionally, regardless of whether she is assisting a novice with Maya's interface or an experienced user creating evocative movies.
A new breed of architects, like Chhavi Mehta, are at ease fusing several fields, such as modeling with emotion, AI with intuition, and architecture with animation. She pushes architecture presentation beyond its conventional bounds and into the realms of immersive storytelling, digital sculpture, and speculative media.
Chhavi's work provides an inspiring roadmap for the future for designers, architects, and students interested in AI-integrated design processes, fluid 3D form modeling, and cinematic architectural storytelling.
