Course detail
META-Fluid Studio 3.0 is a collaborative studio course on PAACADEMY that uses Autodesk Maya and Unreal Engine to design fluid cyber-urban environments within a collectively built virtual city. Thirty designers working in teams of three develop either meta-architectural typologies — event spaces, NFT exhibitions, concert stages, sports stadiums — or meta-urban elements such as master plans, vertical buildings, water and green ratios, and multi-layer circulation systems. The combined output is a free-standing fluid virtual urban field demonstrating multi-author urban design as a model for future virtual cities.

After the successful launch of the “META-Fluid Studio” and “META-Fluid Studio 2.0” workshops, which had fantastic student results, requests for the second iteration of this studio arose. The “META-Fluid Studio 3.0” takes another step to unlock the potential of Fluid Design with the Maya software to develop cyber-urban environments in virtual cities.
The Meta-Fluid Studio 3.0 explores the quality and power of Fluid Design to conceive cyber-urban environments in virtual cities. The goal is to create a free-standing virtual city designed by 30 different designers teamed up in 3s. Some teams will create meta-archi typologies for this studio, and some designers will join skills to create a ‘meta-urban’ base. Combined, they will create a free-standing, fluid virtual urban field and prove the Multi-Author Urban Design to be the directionality for the future of virtual cities.
During this studio, the designers will get acquainted with the 3d modeling software Autodesk Maya, the number one software for Fluid Architecture in the current real-life scenario – and Unreal Engine for the immersive experience of their designs.
For the Meta-Fluid Studio 3.0, virtual environments are as real as Physical environments. Together, they strengthen the fluid experience of space and push the boundaries of Fluid Design in Architecture.
Meta Archi-Typologies: Event Spaces; NFT exhibitions; Crypto Markets; Concert Stages; Sports Stadium; Lice Streamed Arenas / Fashion walkways/ Entertainment and nightlife.Meta-urban Typologies: Master planners; vertical and horizontal voided buildings; water and green ration; multi-layers of urban circulation.
Fluid Design Principles: Explore the concepts and methodologies behind Fluid Design to create dynamic and innovative cyber-urban environments.
3D Modeling in Maya: Gain hands-on experience with Autodesk Maya, focusing on its tools and capabilities for designing fluid architectural forms.
Collaboration in Teams: Work collaboratively in groups to develop a cohesive virtual city, enhancing skills in teamwork and project management.
Immersive Experiences with Unreal Engine: Learn how to integrate your designs into Unreal Engine for immersive visualization and interaction.
What you should already know or have ready before you start, experience, tools, and any baseline skills the instructors expect. Scan the list below so nothing catches you off guard.
This is an applied workshop. We will learn through involvement, so expect homework! You will work in groups of 3 to distribute the tasks and produce a complete project. Each group will have 10 minutes to present their work on jury day.
